Add quizzes
Word, PDF, scanned pages or photos, spreadsheets (Kahoot, Quizizz, Blooket, Google Forms export), Quizlet sets, or exports from Blackboard, Moodle, Schoology and other systems. Add one or many — each becomes its own quiz on a checklist. Files are read on your computer and are not uploaded until you send the finished quizzes to Canvas.
Import from Google
Bring in a Google Forms quiz with its answer key, or pick a quiz from your Google Drive (Forms, Docs, Word or PDF). You only connect once.
Open the form in edit mode and copy the address from the browser bar.
Tips for each kind of quiz
Word, PDF and pasted text
Number the questions (1., Question 1:) and letter the choices (a), B.). Mark the right answer any of these ways:
*b) Parisorb) Paris (correct)Answer: Bunder the question- An Answer Key section at the end:
1. B 2. A, C 3. True - Bold or underline the right choice in Word
Questions with a blank (____) and an answer become fill-in-the-blank. Questions with no answer become essays. (2 pts) sets the points.
Scanned copies and photos
Scans and phone photos are read with text recognition. Use flat, well-lit pages. Circled or handwritten answers can't be detected reliably, so mark the right answers on the review screen.
Google Forms
When you open Quiz Converter from Canvas and your school has set up Google sign-in, use Import from Google above. It brings in the questions, points and the full answer key. Otherwise, either:
- Use the Google Forms export script, which makes a Google Sheet you download as .xlsx and upload here (keeps the answer key), or
- Open the form, press Ctrl/⌘ + P, and save as PDF (you'll mark the answers here).
Spreadsheets
Kahoot, Quizizz, Blooket and Gimkit spreadsheets are recognised automatically. For anything else, use the quiz template (.csv).
Quizlet
In Quizlet, open the set → ⋯ → Export, copy the text and paste it above. Choose how the cards become questions.
Other LMS
Upload a QTI export (.zip or .xml) from Blackboard, D2L/Brightspace, Schoology, Moodle (Moodle XML or GIFT), or a Canvas Common Cartridge.
Your quizzes
One-time step: allow Quiz Converter to add quizzes to your courses.
Download for Canvas
Downloads the selected quizzes as one QTI file. In your course go to Settings → Import Course Content, choose QTI .zip file, upload it, and tick Import existing quizzes as New Quizzes if you use New Quizzes.
